Rye Fish Market 15 minutes away offers fresh locally sourced fare from Tuesday to Saturday. 

A large proportion of the fish is from their small fleet of local day boats. The harbour in Rye is tidal, so their fishermen go out to sea on one tide, spend just 12 hours at sea and then return on the next high tide. 

This means that their fish is caught with sustainable methods and is always wonderfully fresh.

Their team is always on hand to fillet and prepare your fish for you, and offers cooking tips and advice. They are also happy to vacuum pack fish to take away.

Their wonderful and exciting Seafood Bar is not publicly known to holidaymakers and is truly a hidden gem.

On Fridays and Saturdays during warmer months, from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm, the outdoor area of the fish market is transformed into a cosy picnic setting, with chefs preparing appetizing meals from a pop up kitchen.

They host local and national chefs, who create meals from the seafood landed that day, so their ever-changing menu is always a delightful surprise.

You can sit in the sun and enjoy wine and beer from their extensive menu, savour delicious oysters, lobster on brioche roll, prawn and scampi hamburgers, crab on locally made sourdough bread, and fish cooked fresh from the boats.

Limited seating means that reservations are strongly encouraged.

Johnson Fruiterers is a family run, top quality greengrocer located in Rye, 12 minutes away.  
 

Established in 1981, they are dedicated to supporting local farmers and businesses, and offer fresh farm produce, chutneys, baked goods, locally made fruit juices, jams and chocolates.  
 

Johnson Fruiterers is truly another hidden gem because they normally distribute to hotels, restaurants, pubs, care homes, and schools throughout Sussex and Kent.
 

But they have also created a delightful, air-conditioned store in their warehouse. And through word of mouth, customers can buy the same top quality products at fair prices that are sold through their distribution network.
 

They are open Tuesday to Friday, from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm, and on Saturdays from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm. And their friendly and helpful staff are more than happy to serve you coffee or freshly squeezed orange juice if you visit. 

Salts Farm Shop and Café is 14 minutes away in Rye, and offers a large variety of food from many local producers.

The Rye Bakery is an independent craft bakery and confectioner established in the Cinque Port of Rye in 1989, with roots in baking dating back to 1935.

Located at Jempson’s Superstore under 20 minutes away, they offer a variety of freshly baked goods and delicious sandwiches. 

Archers of Westfield 7 minutes away, is the best butchers in the area and has been offering prime quality meat since 1935.
