GRAPE AND GRAIN

In 2022, Sussex wine gained Protected Designation of Origin status and Benchwood House is within a 10 minute drive to local vineyards.

Wine lovers can visit vineyards such as Charles Palmer Vineyards 8 minutes away, and add their wonderful grape varieties on offer to your holiday collection.

You can sample their wines before you buy in their rustic Cellar Door welcome snug, or simply visit to have drinks with beautiful panoramic views over their vineyards, with a roaring log fire in cooler months.

Or you can go on an excursion with a pickup up from Benchwood House to several vineyards with Vine and Country Tours and enjoy a chef prepared meal at one of the stopoffs.

The Longman Brewery is located in the heart of the Sussex Downs and deserves special mention even though it is about 52 minutes away.

The brewery produces internationally acclaimed award winning beer, and have won best beer style in the World Beer Awards multiple times.

They won the title again in 2023 for the best bitter with the creation of their Old Man premium bitter.

You can book a tour and tasting to learn their brewing process from grain to glass and enjoy in-store discounts on their collections.
